What is included in an individual rental?

When you rent a van for individual use, you get the bedding free of charge, the outdoor accessories (camping table and chairs), as well as all the kitchen equipment (cutlery, utensils, stove and a gas bottle). Basic all-risks insurance is also included, and free.

How do your group trips / roaming surf camps work?

At The Family Van, every surf camp is a unique adventure, made up of a fleet of 3 to 7 vans, with 1 to 3 people per vehicle, forming a close-knit group. You will be accompanied by Noémie and Kévin, the co-founders of The Family Van, throughout your journey.

What makes our surf camps exceptional is that they are touring camps: every day you will explore the region aboard your campervan, from Biscarrosse to Saint Jean de Luz, and surf world-famous spots thanks to daily lessons.

The days are split into two halves: half a day dedicated to surf lessons, and the other to discovering the region and to activities such as village visits, tastings of local produce, drinks on the beach / at open-air cafés, shopping sessions, and more free surf sessions on top of the lessons.

Our aim is to offer a distinctive, complete experience, unlike traditional surf camps where you stay in the same place all week. Touring and travelling by van also create a special atmosphere and closeness for an unforgettable trip.

Are the surf camps open to all levels?

Our surfcamps are open to everyone, whether you are a complete beginner or already more advanced. Our instructors adapt to your level to give you personalised lessons and help you progress at your own pace.

How does the tailor-made trip option work?

Accepted Answer

After discussing your travel plans (budget, interests, must-sees...), our team creates a tailor-made roadbook. It includes a detailed itinerary and daily recommendations for activities, exclusive addresses and accommodation suggestions. You can then send us your feedback so that we can adjust the roadbook to suit you.

What is the van's range?

Our vans have a range of 330km and come with rapid charging (40 minutes).

Question 6

How long does it take to charge the van?

Accepted Answer

At a rapid charging point, charging the vehicle from 10 to 85% of its range takes 35 to 40 min on average: just enough time for a coffee and to clean the van before setting off again!

You can also recharge the van at slow charging points (between 2 and 7 hours for the slowest ones) or at the campsite, overnight.

It is up to you to choose the option best suited to your itinerary.

What are the cancellation terms?

The Family Van will charge the cancellation/termination fees below:
• More than 30 days before departure: free cancellation;
• From 30 to 21 days before departure: 30% of the total trip price;
• From 20 to 14 days before departure: 50% of the total trip price;
• From 13 to 7 days before departure: 75% of the total trip price;
• From 6 to 3 days before departure: 80% of the total trip price;
• Less than 3 days (or no show): 100% of the total trip price;
